Ambulance Technicians

As well as the state registered Paramedic grade Crusader has a number of ambulance Technicians trained to IHCD standards all former NHS ambulance personnel. This grade is the same skill level as employed by the NHS ambulance service and usually accompanies a Paramedic on front line duties. They are able to carry out a full range of duties using all of the equipment and monitoring facilities carried on our vehicles, with the exclusion of most POM drugs, intravenous cannulation and extended airway techniques as laid down by the IHCD (Institute of Health Care and Development.) The qualifying course is 6 weeks in duration followed by 1 year of front line duties with ongoing assessment before candidates are deemed as proficient. All NHS Paramedics have carried out training as Technicians, before being able to undertake further extended courses.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) personnel trained to this standard have usually successfully completed a 5 or sometimes 10-day course offered by private or NHS related training providers. They are able to use some equipment under supervision of a higher grade, including the administration of oxygen and AED defibrillators, but excluding all POM drugs and the use of intravenous and extended airway techniques.
Ambulance Care Assistant (ACA)

Our ACA s are basic trained with a certificate of first aid issued by the HSE, they also have successfully completed a handling and lifting course. This level of personnel are used for patients that are classified as non emergency but who need care and help in attending out patients appointments, hospital transfers and repatriations. The ACA s employed by Crusader are encouraged to undertake further training, and to date are proficient in the application of AED defibrillators and oxygen administration if the need should arise.
So to summarise, you can see by the skill levels of our staff we are able to provide experienced ambulance personnel both male and female for whatever your Patient dependency level requirements are, to anywhere within the UK, Ireland, Europe and the rest of the World by arrangement.
